Chinook was developed by the U.S.D.A. breeding program in Washington State and released in 1985 as a high alpha acids variety. Its ancestry includes Petham Golding. Chinook eventually found traction among craft brewers as a result of its spice and pine aroma characteristics and is now used is a very wide scope of beer styles.
Aroma
It’s pine-like, spicy almoste smoky bouquet is held together with well-balanced citrus and sweet fruit notes, with robust flavors of grapefruit.

The values represent the medium range of the past few years. Be aware that specific alpha values can vary in a broad range depending on the relevant crop year.
