Green Cardamom Pods 1 kg
The green cardamom that we sell here is also known as Whole Cardamom or Cardamom Pods. Adding cardamom when brewing can be done by using whole cardamom pods or by choosing to grind the seeds first. Cardamom can be used in the production of a diverse range of beer styles to add a subtle spicy and citrusy flavor. Think of styles ranging from Saison or Witbier to darker beer styles such as Stout or Porter. Always be mindful of the dosage, as an excess can overpower other flavors.
Green Cardamom
There are two main types of cardamom: Green cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum) and Black cardamom (Amomum subulatum). We have green cardamom pods. Its appearance is a green-gray, three-compartment capsule containing dark brown seeds that are only aromatic.
Taste and Flavour
The taste of cardamom can be described as sweet and spicy, with a subtle hint of citrus. The aroma on the other hand, is warm and aromatic. This makes it a true addition to both savory and sweet dishes. Therefor this spice is often found in the kitchen, not only for meat and fish dishes such as curries, stews, rice dishes, but also in desserts. Popular in South Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, and Scandinavia cuisine.
Fun fact: It has been shown that cardamom seeds effectively fight bad breath because of its fragrant and refreshing properties. As a result, the fruit is sometimes used as a natural “chewing gum” after meals. The fact that this spice is very versatile in use is also evidenced by the fact that it is found not only in the kitchen, but also in perfume and cosmetics.
