Light Chocolate malt has a biscuit taste with hints of coffee and chocolate (more bitter and honey-like accents than Cara Malt) with an aroma of roasted cocoa.

This malt gives colour to the beer. Depending on the amount added a deep red or rich dark hue.

Pauls ‘Reliable Lighthouse’ Light Chocolate Malt is produced at the Pauls Malt Ltd. plant in Knapton, North Yorkshire, UK.

Fermented malt is roasted at temperatures up to 220 °C. Water is used to extend the roasting time and for quenching and cooling at the end of a roast to prevent combustion.

The roasting time is slightly shorter than for regular Chocolate Malt.
